Christian Life Retreat (Seniors)

Change of pace. Change of place. Change of perspective. The most impactful week in the life of our student body began yesterday, as our senior class along with a group of faculty members traveled to Mentone, Alabama, for the kick off of our second annual Christian Life Retreat.

The class began their time together with a variety of outdoor team-building activities including a zip line and a high ropes course. Sunday evening, Head of School Kent Harrison shared his story with the class. He encouraged the students to embrace the opportunity that lies before them throughout this impactful week and to not lose sight on the moments that God could be using as defining chapters in each of their stories. The evening concluded with a bonfire, fellowship, and fun for all!

CHS parent, Board of Trustee member, and leadership expert Scott Humphrey joined the group at Camp Skyline Monday morning and encouraged the class, through a series of stories of leaders past, to understand that to every action and decision that each individual makes, there is a butterfly effect. His thoughts encouraged the students to consider every step they take, and ultimately, capitalized on the importance of making the most of every opportunity. After time to enjoy more outdoor activities and fellowship, the seniors' time together at Camp Skyline concluded with an impactful message from Director of Christian Life John-Paul Burdashaw. The students focused on past worries and components of their lives that they needed to rid themselves of in order to be free in Christ. The class literally threw their fears away and proclaimed their identity in Jesus through verbal affirmations they wrote for themselves from Scripture passages.

The past two days were filled with impactful moments and opportunities for the Class of 2021 to FOCUS on their goals and who they want to be as leaders of CHS and future world changers. The change of place and change of pace certainly resulted in a change of perspective for our seniors, and we cannot wait to kick off the high school Christian Life Retreat tomorrow, as our freshmen, sophomores, and juniors join us for the first day of their retreat experience.
