Second Grade Celebrates Black History Month

Second-grade students have spent the last two weeks reading about famous African Americans along with African American literature to celebrate Black History Month. After each book was read, the class discussed the impact those individuals had on American history and culture. The students stated thoughts of bravery and determination in the face of adversity. To quote one of our students, “I cannot believe somebody could keep on going when other people made it so hard to do!"
