NINTH - TWELFTH GRADE

Where students thrive in the arts.

 

 

BAND

CHS Band provides students with instruction in woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments. Performances include Christmas and Spring Concerts, as well as opportunities to audition for All-District and All-State Band. Smaller performing groups include the High School Praise Band and Jazz Ensemble.

 

 

 

CHS SINGERS

CHS Singers is a musical ensemble which performs standard choral literature, contemporary pieces, sacred selections, and show tunes. Performance opportunities include concerts, chapels, and regional honor choirs.

 

 

DRAMA

Students have the opportunity to audition for One Act in the fall and Musical Theatre in the spring. These classes help students attain a professional and personal understanding of the arts through auditions, rehearsals, and performances of full-scale dramatic and musical productions. Recent shows include Charlotte’s Web, The Lion King, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and The Little Mermaid.

 

 

 

GUITAR

Students in guitar class will learn the fundamentals of chords, scales, strumming, and rhythm. Performance opportunities include concerts, chapels, coffee houses, and other school functions.

 

 

 

TECHNICAL THEATRE

Students are introduced to stage equipment, safety procedures, power tool operation, set construction, scenic painting, stage management, costuming, makeup, sound, and lighting for theatrical productions.

 

 

 

VISUAL ARTS

Art classes are offered at a variety of levels, for the very beginning artists to students building college portfolios. Media used include oil pastels, charcoal, colored pencils, ink, acrylic, watercolor, clay, and pottery.
