Tyler has served as the middle school physical education teacher, middle school athletic director, and head varsity boys' basketball coach since 2016. A graduate of Shorter University, he holds a B.A. in Sports Management and an M.A. in Early Childhood Education. A high school and collegiate athlete and coach, he is the all-time leading scorer at CHS and played at Trevecca Nazarene University and Shorter University. During his coaching tenure at Shorter, they won the conference tournament, made it to the Final Four for the NAIA National Tournament, and won the NCCAA National Championship. He has led CHS to one Region Championship, one Final Four appearance, two Elite 8 appearances, and four consecutive appearances in the state tournament. Tyler and his wife, Loni Beth (LB), have two children, Gunner and Rowan, and they reside in Dalton.
