Lower School
kindergarten - fifth grade
Where love and learning first meet.
The lower school years are formative years in which teachers seek to ignite passion and a lifelong love of learning in their students. Our curriculum is designed with high expectations to lay a foundation upon which students can build academically, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. As your child grows, our curriculum grows with them, providing a strong foundation and a focus on critical thinking.
THE HEART OF A LITTLE LION
We teach and model values of respect, kindness, responsibility, and service that spring from our biblical worldview. We explore leadership and service to others through opportunities both within the walls of CHS and out in the community. Our lower school faculty creates safe and nurturing environments daily that allow students to explore the world around them while being academically stimulated and challenged. CHS’ unique environment allows teachers to pray with their students thus modeling that Christ is their ultimate source to meet the challenges of life. Children leave the lower grades prepared for middle school and eager to share their unique passions and talents as they grow and mature into the person Christ has created them to be.
THE CURRICULUM
Students in grades K-5 are taught Bible, language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science. In addition to these daily classroom subjects, our lower school students enjoy and explore classes dedicated to art, music, physical education, and Spanish, along with regular visits to the library. This array of class offerings opens up the door of opportunity to introduce new challenges and encourage individuality as students learn to collaborate, perform, and create.
